Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : With the increase of Brazilian economic growth and, consequently, the level of construction activity, the generation of residues from this sector is an important problem to be solved. Alternatives to recycle these residues, often in the composition of new materials, and developing models and management tools have been studied in several papers presented to the technical means in order to mitigate the effects caused by the impact of construction on the environment. However, the absence of public policies that consider the generation, handling and disposal of these wastes as a real problem, are still the biggest obstacle in the adoption of sustainable practices. This paper presents the general aspects of the management of waste generated by construction operations and demolition works to reform the Palestra Italia Arena (Allianz Parque) in the city of São Paulo by means of activities of recycling and reuse of these materials on the construction site of the works. The management of the demolition wastes produced in the construction work allowed significant economic gains, reducing transportation costs and acquisition of natural raw materials. The great part of the total amount of waste produced could be characterized as Class A. |

EFFECTS OF BUREAUCRACY IN ASSESSMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION |
Author : Glades Tereza Félix |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This article is located on the border of the general debate of higher education policies. Such policies are linked to the strategies of integration of the economy in major changes worldwide. In this context, are established procedures for assessing higher education that contribute to the redefinition of the relationship between the state and higher education system. It is in this perspective that situates the subject of this study - to identify the model of public management that led to formal incorporation and final assessment as regulatory act and compulsory in the first Cardoso administration (1995-2002). Descriptive in nature, with a qualitative approach in the literature review highlight the characteristics of the Bureaucratic State and State Management. Also, we study the concept and meaning of efficiency in the administrative plan of both states. The results showed that the model of public management was in transition, when the policy called evaluation of higher education has become regulatory, permanent and compulsory in the country as having the same Model Management based on such achievement was only possible through bureaucratic actions anchored in excess legislation. We conclude that the emergence of higher education evaluation in the 90 expanded the bureaucracy. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This study objective to estimate the potential evapotranspiration and actual area of the municipalities belonging to the micro Seridó in the state of Rio Grande of the North, using the complementary model of Morton. After that we tried to spatialize the results to see how it distributes the ETR and ETP on the region. For the analysis it became clear that in regions where the first one is high the other tends to be low. It was seen that the ETR corresponded to low values in the central and high in the extreme north and south of micro Seridó as the ETP. Relating to the availability of energy concluded that during the year this variable was more important in the process of evaporation than precipitation on Seridó, making the model suitable for assessing when there low in precipitation. |

Author : Alexandre Boleira Lopo; Maria Helena Constantino Spyrides; Paulo Sérgio Lucio; Javier Sigró |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The city of Natal is called by its inhabitants "Sun City" because of its high luminosity, however the capital of Rio Grande do Norte has rates of no melanoma skin cancer above the average of the capitals northeast of Brazil. In this scenario, article presents a study of the variability of Ultraviolet radiation (UV) and UV index for the city of Natal and its association with relevant variables as total ozone, aerosols, cloudiness and global solar radiation (RSG). The methodology conducted a descriptive study with statistical application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Biplot graphic. The data were obtained from the National Institute of Spatial Research/Northeast Regional Center (INPE/CRN), instruments TOMS-OMI/AURA and MODIS/TERRA and National Institute of Meteorology of Brazil. The results indicated that the UV index has an annual mean of 11, rated as extreme by the World Health Organization and that intensity of UVB and UV index in the first half of the year are more intense than in the second. The annual variability of UV has a feature in the months of september and october that consisting of a stabilization/reduction of the UV index in a growth phase of RSG due to higher annual concentration of total ozone. The highest intensity of aerosols during this period contributes to this event. PCA and Biplot graphic contributed to identify the event, because indicated that total ozone and aerosols have a strong negative correlation with the UV index in those months. The authors called event with the abbreviation AES-UV (Annual Spring Event from UV) since it occurs at the beginning and during this season. |

Author : Emerson Augusto Medeiros; Ana Lucia Aguiar Lopes Leandro; Helena Perpétua de Aguiar Ferreira |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This paper discusses the knowledge of people who have built their lives in liaison and interaction with the sea. The knowledge of the Sea People are unique individuals who have knowledge of their grounded in practice with the water and the tide trajectory. The scientific and social relevance of this work is anchored in order to realize that the current education walks valuing the knowledge from the sciences, giving little credit to the common knowledge of such persons. In dialogs built with fishermen and shellfish and narratives of the individuals begin our study. The authors that make this work such as Freire (2005 ), Santos (2008 ) and Gohn (2010 ) discuss important aspects for understanding and reflection of the study. In the narratives of the actors and authors of the research realized that their knowledge are grounded in their culture, serving for the construction of their actions and practices. Fishing, shellfishing, live in the sea are some activities and behaviors that reinforce the identity of these individuals. We understand that the experience of life at sea is a decisive factor in the formation of populations of the sea. Commitments to life, participating in the work the research subjects, validate their knowledge as a web that leads its existence, and make them aware subjects in the world. |

INTERACTIONS BETWEEN CULTIVATE BEAN AND ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ABOUT Callosobruchus maculatus (COLEOPTERA: BRUCHIDAE) ON STORED GRAIN. |
Author : Francisco Roberto Azevedo; Maria Andréia Moura |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Objectifying to evaluate the interaction of a susceptible bean cultivar compared with no host bean cultivar stored in three atmospheric conditions: hermetic, semi-hermetic and no hermetic, about the development of weevil Callosobruchus maculatus (L.), conducted this research in the laboratory of Entomology of the UFC, in Crato-CE, on ambient conditions, during may to july of 2008. It was utilized a completely randomized design, with four replicates in a factorial 2 x 3, where the first factor referred to the cultivars of beans and as other factor, the three atmospheric conditions. At the eight days of infestation were evaluated the mortality of the adults and the egg-laying and, in the end of the storage period, evaluated the emergency of weevil and the loss of weight of the grains. The condition hermetic promotes higher mortality and lower emergency of the adults of weevil, along, lower loss of weight of the grains. Therefore, the hermetic control associated with susceptible cultivars of beans can be used as strategic alternatives for small growers to the use of chemical products in management programs of Callosobruchus maculatus in stored grains. |

DO ARITHMETIC AND GEOMETRY COMBINE WITH QUADRATIC EQUATIONS? |
Author : F. Quaranta; E. G. Lourenço; A. Alves; I. S. Medeiros |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : When we talk about quadratic equation, it is immediate to associate with the general formula erroneously attributed to Bhaskara in Brazil. This is due to overuse and often unique to this formula. The objective of this paper is to encourage and discuss the relevance and scope of other methods for solving quadratic equations that currently has been left aside by most Brazilian teachers, such as a geometric method present in "The Elements" of Euclid, the completion of squares (which demonstrate the general formula by geometric reasoning - adding areas) and the method of sum and product (which we will present in a device that extends its use for fractional roots). |

ARARUNA: CONSTRUCTED IDENTITY AND MEANINGS REVEALED IN THE SPACE EXPERIENCED |
Author : Josenildo da Silva Martins; Evaneide Maria de Melo |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : This article is evidence from the geographical studies conducted by analyzing the relationship space-culture. In Brazil, it is since 1990 that production begins to be evident. This study adds to this evidence since a little over two decades later it apprehends a significant part of these productions both in the national and international contexts so as to analyze the cultural dimension of space experienced by the “Araruna” group. The spatial representation of the reality experienced by the group performs in the form of monuments, a spatial form translated at the headquarters of the group, which comprises part of their culture and their identity. |
